Now is a very good time to do the re-balancing game…let’s go where we’re not.
This is re-balance week for the Salt Creek Active Allocation strategy. By now you should not be surprised to learn that there will be only a minor tweak to our strategic allocation (a small change in the fixed income sleeve), and very little turnover in the total portfolio. Several changes related to the riskiness of the models were contemplated, but only small changes were made.
The future may hold more significant changes as the economic cycle matures and we enter a period of market adjustment. The Fed runs the game.
We’ve added a new bond fund and a new domestic equity fund to the new quarter’s allocation. We spent considerable time evaluating the performance of the managers we have chosen, and we spent an equal amount of time evaluating the processes we used to make our decisions.
Did our choices add value to our clients? Did our decisions perform as expected? Were there any surprises?
Finally, I’d like to re-emphasize the discipline and rigor that is a part of our SCI methodology and also the methodology of our new partners at Ocean Park Asset Management.
